A large number of people especially families have been visiting the latest edition of Spring Festival, which simultaneously opened in Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah on Saturday.
This year’s festival, which will run until January 4, is open daily from 4pm until 10pm.
The festival is distinguished by the diversity of entertainment events which include a distinctive circus show, parades and mind and skills games, as well as the participation of the Souq Waqif Arts Centre.
Popular groups from different countries including those from Arab world entertain visitors with cultural presentation such as folk dances and songs with the accompaniment of native musical instruments.
The festival features around 60 games and rides in the two souqs. Visitors can see wild animals like lion and tiger at the circus shows. Singers and dancers enthral the spectators with a variety of songs and dances.
The event is organised by the Private Engineering Office in order to draw local and international tourists and give them an opportunity to enjoy various entertainment and shows.
Like its previous editions, this year’s festival blends games and rides with concerts and shows making it a much-anticipated event in Souq Waqif’s calendar for its high entertainment value.
Speaking to reporters, Mohammed Al Salem, Director of Souq Waqif, said that they are keen to organise such events during the mid-year vacation, with the aim of engaging children with their families, and giving them an atmosphere of fun.
