Doha: Majed Burhan Al-Zaidan, Director of the Municipal Control Department in Al-Sheehaniya Municipality, and head of the team supervising food safety at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 events and activities, stated that the Ministry of Municipality had long prepared for the task of supervising food safety for the World Cup, by forming a team comprising 77 food safety specialists.
He said that the scope of the Ministry's task includes the safety of food provided in all World Cup facilities in the eight stadiums, all national team training centers, the main media center, the locations of the championship security forces, and a number of fans gathering areas, among others.
The role of the Ministry of Municipality is to supervise all stages of the food chain, starting from the places where meals are prepared and transported by food service companies, and the sites where they are served. This is in addition to the main role of the Ministry in supervising all food establishments, which number more than 20,000, through health control departments in all eight municipalities.
