UDST is aggressively targeting the international student market and this exposure will without a doubt enhance awareness and from our perspective as a host site for Switzerland also will add to the interest and potential applications.”

Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of UDST

UDST, one of the leading institutes in Qatar offers distinctive programs to enlighten students with a “deep understanding of applied education and the importance of the knowledge and competencies the students gain through their education at the University.” Al Naemi also stressed that compared to the previous year, there has been a surge of 30 percent in admissions and the ratio is expected to increase in the coming years.

The university is represented by students from over 70 nationalities with diverse cultures comprised to provide them with exceptional edification facilities. Al Naemi said that “The University aims to give them as many real-life learning experiences as possible, so they can extend what they acquired in the classroom to their workplace. UDST offers high-quality programs led by qualified instructors in technology-rich classrooms, workshops, laboratories, and simulated environments.” “UDST remains a leader in the State for technical and vocational education and training. At our institution, we truly promote the value of balance and the importance of the extra-curricular experience and the personal well-being of every student,” he added.

The universities have made significant progress in admittance from previous years affected by Covid-19 and a lot of international students opted to pursue their higher education in Qatar.

Speaking to The Peninsula, Caitlin Murphy, Director of Admissions for Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUQ) said: “As we consider some differences from last year, one cannot help but acknowledge the post-pandemic reality that a lot of universities are experiencing. Many students and applicants have embraced the opportunity to study abroad, and to expand their search for colleges and universities to include schools outside of their hometown or city.”

As a charter member of Qatar Foundation’s Education City, VCUarts Qatar anticipates more admissions in the coming years due to the FIFA World Cup 2022 hosted by Qatar. “While many students and families are already aware of Education City here in Qatar, the World Cup has certainly provided additional exposure and publicity of what educational opportunities Qatar has to offer. FIFA, and this year’s World Cup, have helped make Qatar a household word. Perhaps more than ever before, Qatar is now on the world stage and seen as a destination city - not just for sporting events, but a world-class education,” she said.

This creates an incredible amount of energy and opportunity for all aspects of Qatar life - tourism and travel, development and construction, conservation, and of course education.

The world’s media is curious and is now sharing the news about our incredible Education City and the educational ecosystem that has been built here by the Qatar Foundation - with partner universities from the US and elsewhere, homegrown institutions like HBKU, and facilities like the Qatar National Library, there is nothing like the Education City anywhere else in the world,” she added.
