Doha: Experienced show jumper Cyrine Cherif bagged top honours in the fifth round of the Qatar Equestrian Tour - Longines Hathab Season Six as she stormed to an impressive Big Tour victory with Obama at the Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) Indoor Arena, yesterday.     

Cherif and eight-year-old bay looked invincible yesterday as the pair finished the first round with a flawless performance in 67.28 second, before clocking 25.34 with another perfect show in the jump off to bag victory in the Big Tour, which carried a total prize money of QR60,000. 

Qatar Equestrian Federation and Modern Pentathlon Secretary-General Sheikh Ahmad bin Nooh Al Thani with the podium winners of the Big Tour round. 

Last round’s winner, Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani teamed up with his nine-year-old bay gelding Ierland VDL to finish second in the tough competition. He set a time of 69.06 in the first round without making any fault, before completing the jump off in 27.25 with another perfect run. 

In the Big Tour event yesterday, Faleh Suwead Al Ajami got off to a flying start with his 12-year-old bay gelding Ambre De Beaufour, topping the first round with a flawless routine in 62.94. However, he had to settle for third position after returning from the jump off in 25.61 with four faults. 

Al Ajami also clinched fifth position with 13-year-old Crispo in the event, with Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi, who rode Morocco, claiming the fourth position. 

Earlier, Faris Saad Al Qahtani astride Hidiene was victorious in the Open Class after flawless rides in 47.25 and 54.28. Teaming up with Jirocco Blue, Saeed Hamad Jumaa claimed second position, clocking 55.66 and 58.28 as the pair completed both the phases without any fault. Mohammed Khalifa Albaker, who rode Jumbo, was third with flawless times of 51.84 and 59.24.

Meanwhile, Mariam Abdulkarim Abed, who rode Wadi Rum D D H, claimed win in Future Riders Class (Max 90cm), while Abdulaziz Abdulla Alabri and Ilse combined to seal win in Future Riders Class (Max 80cm).
