Ambassador of China to Qatar, H E Zhou Jian
Doha: The Ambassador of China to Qatar, H E Zhou Jian, has said that a Chinese Cultural Center will open in Doha by the end of this year or early next year.
H E the Ambassador, while talking to media persons yesterday on the sideline of an event to mark 71st Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, said: “We are pushing to build a Chinese Cultural Center in Qatar. We are in the final stage and we are discussing the details of cooperation agreement. Hopefully it will be set up by the end of this year or by early next year.”
H E the Ambassador added, “We are also considering to build Confucius College to provide a platform for Qatari-Chinese learners.”

Regarding Qatar and China cooperation, he emphasised that China will be the largest importer of LNG from Qatar. “We increasingly import LNG from Qatar and we are ready to develop our cooperation from upstream to downstream to have comprehensive cooperation in this field.”
Also the two countries, the Ambassador noted, will promote cooperation in the field of high technology because Qatar is now devoted to economic diversification and high technology is very important part of it.
“China has a lot of high technology companies and a lot of industrial parks, a lot of research centres. I think it is an area we can explore in the future for further cooperation. And especially, Qatar has a very important plan to build a smart Qatar, and And China has experience in this regard; we have smart cities and smart transportation, education and so on,” he added.
