Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Imran Khan (right) meets with Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman, Qatari Businessmen Association, yesterday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also met Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, the Chairman of Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) and Hussain Ibrahim Al Fardan, First Deputy to the Chairman of QBA.
During the business meetings, Prime Minister Imran Khan invited Qatari business leaders to invest in all sectors of Pakistan’s economy, including energy, petroleum and petrochemicals, agricultural research, food processing, culture, tourism, education and infrastructure development, the embassy said in a statement.
The Prime Minister also invited Qatari private sector to become partners in Pakistan government’s drive for construction of 5 million low cost housing units over the next five years. Qatari business leaders expressed great interest in investing in Pakistan, the statement added.
Talking to media after the meeting, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatari Businessmen Association, said: “Pakistan is very close to us and there are historical relations between two countries.”
He said that there existed a lot of opportunities of businesses between two countries. “They called us today to showcase the opportunities in Pakistan; the delegation came also to explore opportunities in Qatar,” said Sheikh Faisal.
He said that Qatar was ready in terms of infrastructure development and necessary legislation to attract the forging investments. “After exploring the opportunity in Qatar, Pakistani businessmen can make joint ventures in Qatar. We sat with visiting delegation for long hours which will have positive results,” said Sheikh Faisal.
Hussain Ibrahim Al Fardan said:“We discussed many issues including transport, telecommunication, industry and trade and many more sectors.”
He said that both sides were ready for cooperation. “A sideline meeting was held under business forum. In future, the partnership between the businessmen of Qatar and Pakistan could be made.” He praised the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan terming it as ‘strong’.
