The US Embassy in Qatar has invited queries from residents regarding US visas (student or general) and will reply to questions on January 26 (Thursday).
To facilitate aspirants for US visas, embassy on its social media platform yesterday created an activity “Visa Web Chat” suggesting residents ask questions that would be answered on January 26 (Thursday).
The move received a warm response from visa-seekers immediately after the announcement as residents started posting questions inquiring about various eligibility criteria and procedures.
“Do you have questions related to US Visas? Here is a chance to ask your questions directly to the US Visas and Consular team. They will be accepting your questions related to US Student Visas and US Visas in general on 26 January 2017 at 3pm Doha time,” the embassy announced on its social media platform.
It further adds: “We will attempt to answer as many questions as possible, but we may not be able to answer every submitted question. Post your questions now (we will answer them on Thursday) or ask them during the time mentioned above.”
The US embassy in Qatar has further advised people to make sure that their questions are generic in nature.
“Questions related to individual visa applications will not be answered. In order to protect everyone's privacy, please do not include personal information such as names, birthdates, and passport numbers. If your question includes passport numbers, telephone numbers or other personal information, we won't be able to respond,” says the advice of the embassy.
The embassy has further asked people to use the hashtags #AskUSEmbassyQatar , #USinQatar to help the embassy track their questions and answer accordingly.
Immediately after the announcement, US visa seekers started posting their questions of diversified nature. Someone asked whether there was any chance of getting a visa for a person whose application was rejected twice a few years ago.
Another person asked about the DV Lottery. “Is it advisable for a person to stay here in Qatar and apply for the next stage of DV Lottery or is it better for him to go back to their home countries?” he asked.
Another resident said that he got a US visa a few years ago when he was single and asked “what will be the procedures as now I am married and want to apply for visas for the family.” Another person asked whether his family could apply for the US tourist visa while they were in Qatar on a visit visa.
