QatarDebate, Generation Amazing organize critical thinking skills in sports

Doha: QatarDebate Center, a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, organized a training workshop on employing the culture of debates to help young leaders of different cultural and ethnic affiliations to enhance effective critical thinking skills in the field of sports in cooperation with the Generation Amazing Foundation "Goal 22".

The workshop, which was organized in the Oxygen Park, focused on "How to be effective sports advocates", where 32 countries participated to improve persuasion skills, objectivity, and the ability to debate and express different points of view, and how to create new concepts to reach common visions about the importance of sport and the social values it carries in its essence to strengthen ties between peoples, and openness to knowledge and cultures in all societies.

In this regard, a trainer at Qatar Debate Center, Tasneem Elias, explained that the workshop shed light on methods of dealing with problems in a balanced manner without losing focus or distraction, and how to find effective solutions. It also worked on deepening the persuasion skills of logical arguments and the foundations of "dismantling" and refuting them, whether with colleagues or the public.

She added that one of the most important outputs of the workshop was to enable the participants to communicate effectively to discuss contemporary issues, and the call to raise the level of beginners in the fields of debate to bridge the gap between them and those with experience.

In turn, the trainer at Qatar Debate Center, Mabarat Wasi, pointed out that the workshop included a number of interactive activities between the participants to provide them with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective and persuasive communication and debate, and enabling them to express their views, through the exchange of topics related to the development of sports, diversity and diplomacy.

He pointed out that the participants were able to prepare various scenarios that help them communicate effectively, as it enhanced their awareness of methods of communication and influencing the masses of all kinds, in addition to their confidence in delivering public speeches and expressing opinions.
