Rotational attendance in Qatar schools from Nov 1: Main Points

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday announced that they have decided to adopt rotating attendance system for students in government and private schools and kindergartens as of November 1.

The main points from the announcement are:

• The option to choose between in-person attendance and distance learning is no longer available
• Students will attend in-person classes at schools on a rotational basis
•The rotational attendance will take effect from November 1

- Average attendance rate will be elevated to 42% of school capacities depending on each academic level and weekly rotational schedule

- Distance learning will be applied on the days when students will not attend schools in-person

- Students in all stages will be split into groups of 15 pupils in each classroom, with a safe distance of 1.5 meters between them

- Schools will give students rotational attendance schedules, which demonstrate the days of in-person attendance and those of distance learning classes

- Wearing masks is compulsory depending on academic stage

- Schools will organize the entry and exit pf students from school premises to avoid overcrowding and observe social distancing

- Students with chronic diseases supported by approved medical reports are exempted from in-person attendance, and can attend virtual lessons only
