On Sunday, newly formed team Al Qiyada defeated Al Rayyan by three sets to one (25/22, 25/23, 23/25 and 25/23). In the second match, Al Gharafa overpowered Police 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-22). In the last match of the day, Eljaish thrashed Al Wakra 3-0 (25/13, 29/27 and 25/19). The Federation Cup, a traditional lung-opener of the Qatar Volleyball Association’s activities for senior teams, has a record 12 teams in the new season. The teams have been divided into two groups. Group A consists of Eljaish, Al Rayyan, Police, Al Gharafa, Al Qiyada and Al Wakra. Group B has Al Arabi, Al Ahli, Al Shamal, Al Sadd, Al Khor and Qatar SC. The final is scheduled on October 31.
