Following a successful performance of “Broadway and Film Music” on September 9, CineMoon Ensemble, member of Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) is scheduled to present another concert of this type next month, specifically curated for Qatar National Library (QNL).
This is the fourth run of the musical group’s Broadway series for this year alone. It made its international debut in Türkiye during the summer festival in Kuşadası.
Founder and director of CineMoon Ensemble, and Creative Director for the upcoming concert, Merve Kenet Bulun told The Peninsula that the arrangement of music that will be performed for the QNL series is dedicated to movies based on novels.
“The programme will include lots of fun with a narrator; we will use the library’s screen to mention about the movies and play the soundtracks from the movies based on the novels. Now I am ordering the scores, some of them will come directly from the States and some of them will be arranged specially for this concert for CineMoon Ensemble.”
Bulun emphasised that each performance of their Broadway series is special and that the music and soundtracks are being presented for the first time. The multi-talented musician and author, who also plays the viola at QPO, said it takes time to conceptualise each piece for the show as it is “connected with various elements beside music.”
She also thanked the Philharmonic for bringing new ideas to the stage. “We are very privileged being under the umbrella of QPO.”
The concert set on October 19 is entitled “The Sound of the Books and the Seventh Art,” and will feature at least 26 famous movie songs including Cinema Paradiso by Ennio Morricone and Andrea Morricone, Pride and Prejudice by Dario Marianelli, Highlights from Harry Potter by John Williams, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides by Hans Zimmer, among others.
