Doha: Online transactions through Metrash2 have surged in Qatar as COVID-19 forced people to stay at home. The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has registered over 4.3 million transactions through the app since March this year.
“From March to September this year, about 4.3 million transactions have been completed through Metrash2, without the need to visit the MoI centres,” said Major Ali Ahmed Al bin Ali, Head of Electronic Services and Internet Department of the General Directorate of Information Systems at the Ministry.
Compared to same period last year, the numbers are significantly higher as about the 1.5 million transactions were carried out through the app during March-September 2019.
Major Al bin Ali noted that the General Directorate of Information Systems has added many services for the Metrash2 app and the MoI website, to reduce the number of visitors to MoI service centres. These new services include the criminal complaints service, truck permits, and others.
About the total number of inquiries, he said: “Total inquiries were around six million between March to September this year, while last year it was only about 3.2 million inquiries.”
Major Al bin Ali was speaking to Qatar Radio yesterday about the Ministry of Interior services and precautionary measures. He briefed about the Ministry’s contributions, represented by the General Directorate of Information Systems, in achieving important safety requirements in light of the spread of the coronavirus by completing most of the transactions through the Metrash 2 application.
Many services have been made available to work on all types of systems and devices. Residents can avail these services round the clock, without visiting MoI service centers
The Ministry of Interior, in statistics released recently, indicated that the number of metrash2 users has exceeded two million since the launch of this application, while services provided since the beginning of the year have reached more than 5.5 million.
The total number of inquiries about the services provided through the application exceeded 9 million. Also, the number of services provided through the Metrash2 reached more than 215 for the public and companies. One of the most prominent new services in the application were criminal complaints, replacement of vehicle plates, vehicle cancellation and employee travel notice list.
