Doha: The US Embassy in Doha said in statement posted on Twitter that it has been made aware of a recurring fraud scheme of scammers, claiming to be working with US embassies and Qatari embassies worldwide, soliciting payment for US educational opportunities or legal assistance with problems related to one's previous educational programs in the US.

According to the Embassy, no U.S. government entity, including the US Embassy in Qatar, will ever request payment for educational or legal services. The Embassy also said that EducationUSA Doha ([email protected]) provides free US higher education guidance to all residents of Qatar.

In this regard, the Embassy urged the country's citizens and residents to be vigilant against these scams.

“If you have received calls or emails requesting for payment and stating that you are under an FBI investigation or other authority, the Embassy urges you to inform the Ministry of Interior or call the Cybercrime Combating Centre hotline: 6681 5757 or email [email protected] and notify the embassy at [email protected],” the statement from embassy said.
