Even though, the summer heat has gained its peak, the beaches and public parks in Qatar have been witnessing more visitors.
In view of this, the authorities concerned have offered ambulance to meet emergencies, said a source at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
“The beaches are ready for receiving visitors and in view of the rush of public, especially during weekends, we have coordinated with Hamad Medical Corporation to offer ambulance to ensure the safety of visitors,” said Omar Al Jaber, Head of Public Parks Section at Al Wakrah Municipality while talking to local media.
He also added that the ministry had signed a contract with a security company and deployed security employees at the beaches to facilitate the entry and exit of visitors and also to maintain the ministry facilities.
Al Jaber also said that all services in beach are perfect, especially play grounds for children which attract more families. The public parks for families are equipped with all the required facilities including entertainment, sports facilities and play areas for children.
The ministry of interior is also conducting police patrols on the beaches to ensure safety of people, he added.
To check environmental violations, the ministry of municipality’ inspectors are conducting inspection raids to catch the violations on the beaches.
In most beaches drowning victims are children under 10 years, not only in Qatar but across the world, In view of this fact, the marine rescuers advise visitors to take care of their children.
“Drowning accidents constitute 70 percent of accidents among children under 10 years especially in the summer. Some of these accidents lead to death,” said Omar Al Hamad, a marine rescuer. The non-professional behaviour with drowning accidents may affect the victim, they have to ask marine rescuers to deal with the case.
Meanwhile, Souq Al Wakrah's beach was open to the public as a means of entertainment for residents of Qatar's southern region during the hot summer season.
A number of restaurants oversee the beach area and will serve beachgoers and access to the beach will be free for all. Swimsuits are required to access the beach and changing rooms are available for both sexes.
