Doha: India’s Vishnu Saravanan, jumped two places in the Optimist Class, to take the lead at the end of day two of the Sail the Gulf the International Regatta of Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation.
Yesterday at the Doha Sailing Club, Saravanan, who was in the third place at the end of Wednesday’s action, pushed the day one leader and compatriot Mahesh Balachander to the fourth place.
Completing the Indian domination at the top was Vishnu Sujeesh Areekara.
Areekara, who was lying at the 11th spot when action began yesterday, finished the day in the third place.
In the same category, Norway’s Torstein Erlendsoenn Tenstad displaced overnight second-placed Ondrej Muller to take the spot behind the leader.
The Indians lead in two other categories. Gajender Singh leads in Laser STD.
Singh, who finished in fourth place on Wednesday, is closely followed by Oman’s Hussain Said Al Jabri and compatriot Dharmender Singh Chauhan.
In 29er, the Indian pair of Ganapathy K Chengappa Varun and Ashok Thakkar has the lead and is followed by all-female pair from India of Varsha Gautham and Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan.
