Doha: Oscar Pistorius, the first ever Paralympian to compete at an Olympic Games and multiple Olympic gold medallist, swimmer Mark Spitz are among the high-profile names that will speak at the Doha GOALS “Gathering of All Leaders in Sports’ Forum next month.
The event will be held from December 10 to 12, with the participation of pioneers and famous figures in the world of sport.
Also, among the athletes to speak are Olympic gold medallist Carl Lewis and South African Rugby World Cup-winning captain Francois Pienaar.
Doha GOALS Forum, launched by an initiative of the Aspire Zone Foundation as an annual forum, is the world’s premier platform for world leaders to create initiatives for global progress through sport.
The Forum will be the first-ever platform that will gather all parties from the world of sports.
Among the people to attend are athletes, businessmen, academics, non-goverment organisations and government bodies who will assess and discuss the impact the world of sport has on all aspects of the society.
Every year, global leaders will gather in Doha with top stakeholders, to create partnerships and initiatives in trying to tackle the most pressing social issues through plenary sessions, debates, as well as focused taskforces that will enable constructive brainstorming and focused collaboration.
Doha GOALS will conclude by outlining a road map of initiatives capable of addressing issues like economic development through sport, the welfare of athletes, federation governance, sport as a tool for education of youth, integration of women’s minority in sport, and cross-culture co-operation.
