Indian business delegation holds talks with QCCI officials

Doha: A delegation representing Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) held a meeting yesterday with a 12-member delegation of CAPEXIL, an indian business support organisation for promotion of export.

The meeting, attended by a number of Qatari businessmen and their indian counterparts, aims at exchanging views on trade opportunities and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in numerous fields including sawn timber, garnet sand, illuminate and polished granite slabs, among other sectors.

Remy Rowhani, the Director General of QCCI said during the meeting that the Qatari market is  expanded enough to accommodate real partnerships with the local  businessmen in these vital sectors. He also offered QCCI’s support to bring together the views of the businessmen in the two countries. 

Sasi Kumar, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy said: Both countries are closely connected with historical and strong relationship. Indian community in Qatar is the biggest in number and the volume of trade exchange between the two countries recorded $13bn in 2012. 

The Indian delegation, led by CAPEXIL Deputy Director I Rajamannar arrived in Doha on a three-day visit to tap trade opportunities in the country. 

CAPEXIL is a non-profit making organisation setup in March 1958 by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India to promote export of chemical and allied products. Formerly known as Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council, it is one of India’s oldest trade bodies with 4,000 members consisting of both SMEs and large corporate organisations

The Indian embassy in Doha said the visit is being coordinated by it with the active support of QCCI and Indian Business and Professionals Network.

The delegation is scheduled for interactions with local companies, aimed at expanding business in various sectors of mutual interest. Members of the business delegation will be available for a ‘Buyer Seller Meet’ today. The QCCI is also organising a business event at its premises tomorrow. QNA
