DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment will launch ‘Sustainable Strategic Plan 2018-22’ under patronage and in presence of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani on September 23.
The announcement was made at a press conference held yesterday at the headquarters of Urban Planning Sector of the Ministry.
“By large, the new plan will focus on food security program of the country through developing the agricultural sector including plants, livestock and fish,” said Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
He said the strategic plan is a road-map to achieve the goals of the ministry, in parallel with the second National Development Strategy 2018-2022 and Qatar National Vision 2030 that the ministry will develop its vision and strategic value by focusing on beneficiaries and improving the services it provides.
Following the decision of the Minister of Municipality and Environment to form a team to follow up preparing this plan, its sectors and manage its implementation, the methodology of the project and its plan have been supervised.
“The team also held periodic meetings with the Planning and Quality Department to receive a briefing on the updates of each phase, as well as to supervise the project outputs, adopt the completed work and other related matters,” said Al Thani.
He said the methodology that was followed to implement the project focused on a number main factors in developing as establishing the sustainable strategic plan and its sectors for the ministry, which included assessing the strategic content and analysing the strategic options.
“Based on this, the strategic map of the ministry has been finalised and its strategic plan has been prepared including the vision, message, values, strategic goals and the link between them,” he added.
Director of Planning and Quality at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Zafer Mohammed Al Hajri said that the department made efforts in preparation of the sustainable strategic plan, using experts and specialists from various sectors of the ministry, and an international expert house specialised in the formulation of strategic plans, focusing on evaluating the strategic context of the ministry through studying the internal and external environment, and making appropriate comparisons regionally and globally.
He stressed that the Planning and Quality Department will carry out the required audits to ensure the soundness of its implementation by identifying the strengths and weaknesses based on the data that will be collected to determine the level of achievement in achieving the initiatives and activities in the operational plans as well as the consequences of any changes that may occur on the internal and external environment of the ministry.
