Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that a traffic diversion will be in place at Leabaib Roundabout as part of efforts to develop roads in the area surrounding Al Duhail military camp. The diversion will be implemented to convert the roundabout into a signal-controlled intersection.
Two lanes will remain open to traffic in both directions during the diversion period in two phases:
Phase 1 starts today at midnight and continues until Saturday evening. The existing roundabout will become wider and motorists from Al Duhail South Street and Al Tarfa Street will be able to pass though the roundabout in all directions. Motorists from the northern side of Arab League Street (from the direction of the previously known Radar Roundabout) will not be able to go through the roundabout and must turn right at Leabaib Roundabout onto Al Duhail South Street, take a U-turn at the next roundabout and return to Leabaib Roundabout to be able to get to Arab League Street.
Motorists to the roundabout from the southern side of Arab League Street must turn right at Leabaib Roundabout onto Al Tarfa Street, then take a U-turn at the traffic signal in front of Qatar University’s female campus and turn right once more near Leabaib Roundabout to return to Arab League Street.
Phase 2 starts on Saturday for four months. Traffic will be able to go through Leabaib Roundabout from Arab League Street in both directions (north and south) following the completion of asphalt works in the areas surrounding the roundabout at the previous diversion location. This will allow traffic through Leabaib Roundabout in all directions. Ashghal apologises for any inconvenience and urges all road users to abide by speed limits and signs for their safety.
