DOHA: On the occasion of the opening of Expo Turkey by Qatar, Q-Post signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on e-commerce roadmap with Turkish Post.
Q-Post and Turkish Post agreed on a "roadmap of designing a product sales plan" from Turkey to Qatar and from Qatar to Turkey benefiting their customers based in both countries.
The MoU was signed by Q-Post Chairperson and Managing Director Faleh Al Naemi and his Turkish counterpart Kenan Bozgeyik, Chairman and Director General of Turkish Post.
Terming the signing event “an important moment” between two countries, Bozgeyik said that the joint venture would be very fruitful and beneficial for Qatar and Turkey. “I congratulate both teams for reaching an agreement,” he added.
Qatar Post Chairman Faleh Al Naemi said: “This e-commerce roadmap is aimed at bringing our respective postal services closer for the benefits of our valued customers and partners. Turkey and Qatar put a lot of efforts in building a strong trade alliance in the last decades and we are glad to see this friendship going a step further today in the field of postal services. I would like to thank all the Board members of Turkish Post for their trust and their precious collaboration. We are extremely proud of what we achieved together.”
He said that in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, Q-Post was going through a major transformation process aimed at embracing the digital age, a modern economy, a changing society and new customers’ needs.
“Our two countries are coming together to strengthen our economic ties via a solid e-Commerce cooperation between Qatar and Turkey Postal Services. It is the beginning of a new e-Journey for both our organisations and we are extremely proud of what we have achieved together,” Al Naemi added.
Building on its successful business growth, Qatar Post is currently going through a holistic modernisation process of its postal services and its products. This transformation programme is aimed at turning Qatar Post into a world-class postal operator by embracing the digital age, a modern economy and a changing society, said a statement by Q-Post.
Within this context, Qatar Post is currently developing a new e-commerce platform allowing international shopping and shipping service directly from Turkey to customers’ doorstep in Qatar. The new service is under testing process in order to reach the best quality product on the market. The new e-commerce platform will be launched at a later stage this year.
This e-commerce agreement with Turkish Post marks a key milestone in this transformation journey and is the beginning of a new partnership between Q-Post and Turkish Post. Qatar Post’s transformation strategy is in line the Nation’s long-term goal to build a competitive, global, and knowledge-based economy and to transform the country into a fully connected society, beyond borders.
