Two arrested for setting up fake firms and selling visas

Doha: The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested two people for forming fake companies in order to sell visas by exploiting names of companies owned by some citizens.

According to media reports, a complaint was filed by a citizen on suspicion that one of his employee, in coordination with outsiders, is trading in visas.

The authorities conducted a thorough investigation and found that two people are establishing fake companies under the names of citizens and using those firms to obtain visas in the pretext of recruiting workers. They were selling these visas, which they got under the fake companies’ sponsorship, for money. 

At the time of his arrest, the first accused, an Asian, had 11 official stamps for different companies, in addition to various documents belonging to these firms and credit cards. The second accused, of Arab nationality, were found working together with the other accused of creating the fake firms.

On interrogation by authorities they confessed to the charges. The accused, along with the documents and other evidences, were arrested and referred to the competent authorities to complete proceedings and bring them to trial.

The authorities urged the citizens and residents to cooperate with security officials and to report any suspicious acts or activities in order to preserve the security and safety of public and private property.
