Doha gets ready to host a slew of powerboat racing events

Doha: The Qatar Marine Sports Federation (QMSF) has lined up a number of powerboat racing events on Corniche as part of the Qatar Cup this week.
Officials of QMSF informed that the Qatar Pro Class Championship, Qatar Class 3 Championship, Formula Future (Juniors) and Qatar Junior Marathon will be held from January 23 to 25.
All the races which will be held next to Sheraton Hotel will consist of Round 3 of the Qatar Pro Class Championship and Round 1 of the Qatar Class 3 Championship, both which will be held on the first day of the three-day Qatar Cup.
On Friday, the Corniche will host races for juniors in the form of Formula Future (juniors) and Qatar Junior Marathon.
On the the last day of the championship, the final rounds of the Qatar Pro Class Championship and the Qatar Class 3 Championship will be staged. On the same day, the final round of the Qatar Pro Marathon will be held.
Meanwhile, the QMSF has announced that they will be organising a competition on Instagram during the Qatar Cup.
Competition will take place in two categories, above 18 years and under- 18.
“To participate, one must take as many pictures from the race site, upload and tag QMSF by adding @ QMSF when uploading your photos. One must also follow QMSF on Instagram in order to ensure the photos are taken into consideration for the competition. Pictures do not have to be of boats only; they can be anything within the race grounds. Winners will receive cash prizes and gifts. We invite all photographers to participate, both amateurs and professionals,” said a QMSF official.
