Thousands of people accompanied with their children raising Qatari flag attended the largest national parade in the history of the country, which was held yesterday afternoon on Doha Corniche.
The crowds began to flock to Doha Corniche, which was decorated and appeared in its finest form during the parade, from the early morning hours to enjoy the best military show.
A large number of new armoured vehicles, and defensive weapons showcased in the show. Ninety percent of the weapons were new and participated in the parade for the first time.
The parade began with aerial displays of various types of warplanes, combat, helicopters, air transports, cargo aircraft, performing aircraft, followed by an entrance by armed forces’ armoured vehicles, tanks, missile defence systems, military police equipment, anti-terrorism equipment, military communications.
Among the most important aircraft participated in the national parade were the Mirage aircraft, Rafale fighter jets and Typhoon fighter jets.
The Amiri Land Forces along with the Amiri Air Forces and Naval Forces also participated in the parade. The Ministry of Interior represented by the Police College, Internal Security Forces “Lekhwiya” paratroopers, General Directorate of Civil Defence took part in the in National Parade.
In a scene that reflects the cohesion between the leadership and the people, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani greeted the people who came to attend the national event.
Residents were happy to see the Amir. “We came in the early hours of the morning to watch the National Parade, although we could watch it on television at home. But, we came to say that we are standing with our leadership and our country. It was a great parade that proved the strength of our state,” said Mariem, a citizen.
“It was amazing to see such parade, we are very proud of our country and our military, our achievements. I think it was message to anyone who wants to break the sovereignty of Qatar,” said Jassim.
Another resident commented, “We came here to share joy with our Qatari brothers at this important occasion. I extend my sincere congratulations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and to all Qataris on the occasion of National Day.”
