Tokyo stocks edge down at the close

Tokyo: Tokyo stocks ended trade modestly lower Tuesday as investors took profits off the table ahead of the start of the year-end holiday season.

The Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.15 percent, or 33.77 points, to close at 22,868.00. The broader Topix index was down 0.15 percent, or 2.72 points, at 1,815.18.
