Smart Kids Scholastic Academy (SKS), an online educational platform for kids aged 2 to 10, was launched in Qatar during a virtual Open Day. It will begin teaching on October 19.

The educational platform, which aims to be the first Nigerian Indigenous Online School, intends to provide world-class online education for growing kids within the comfort of their homes. This phenomenon has become necessary, particularly with the current cornonavirus pandemic.

It offers the internationally recognized British Edexcel curriculum with students in Nursery (2-4 years), Lower Primary (5-7 years), and Upper Primary (8-10+ years). The tuition fees range from QR874 for nursery kids, QR1747 for lower primary, and QR2620 for upper primary.

SKS boasts nine teachers from Nigeria, Pakistan, Jordan, Zimbabwe, and India. It will offer classes in Maths, Literacy, Science, Computing, Social Studies, and History.

Other subjects are Geography, Civic Education, Physical Education, Language, Arts & Crafts, Quran & Islamic Studies, and Christian Religious Knowledge.

The directors of the educational platform Rafiat Ajayi-Ibraheem and Noimot Olayiwola, noted that online learning helps mothers prepare their kids for the traditional schooling system while also providing a stage for parents to be engaged in their child’s academic growth.

“Most parents don’t understand the concept of homeschooling, so they end up doing that to their kids but without the right curriculum. If not done properly, poor homeschooling can affect a child’s growth and the parent’s mental health, so at SKS, we provide the right curriculum to ensure parents get the process right,” said Ajayi-Ibraheem during the virtual event.

“We live in a multi-lingual world, so we will teach the kids as they grow languages (Arabic and French) to help them be comfortable around peers from other parts of the world. Also, the online platform creates a bond between mother and child because parents are hands-on and can contribute to the child’s educational growth,” she added.

Also commenting, Noimot said, “Online learning has become essential and more popular. It is an interactive mode of learning, and with the situation now, who knows how education will be conducted in the next few years. Online learning is flexible, helping to reduce the number of dropouts in developing countries, and it helps bridge the academic divide between the haves and the have nots.

“We follow a proper curriculum in the British Edexcel Curriculum. Hence, the certificates will be recognized worldwide.”
