Qatar bourse remains bearish for 4th week

DOHA: Bearish spell continued for the fourth consecutive week on Qatari bourse as the benchmark Index lost 58.94 points or 0.69 percent during this week to close at 8,422.26 points.

Market capitalisation fell by 0.78 percent to reach QR464.71bn compared to QR468bn at the end of previous week. All the sectors, except the Insurance, ended in negative territory this week. 

Medicare Group, Ezdan Real Estate, Dlala Holding, Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance and Qatar Oman Investment Company were the top losers. Qatar Insurance, Aamal Holding Company, Islamic Holding Group, Al Ahli Bank and Qatar Electricity & Water Company were the gainers of the week.

Trading value during this week decreased by 12.63 percent to reach QR847.6m compared to previous week’s QR970m. Trading volume increased by 16.73 percent to reach over 22m shares, as against 19.28m , while the number of transactions rose by 16.38 percent to reach 14,282 transactions as compared to 12,272 transactions last week.

The Industrials sector led trading value during this week accounting for 32.97 percent of the total value, followed by Banks and Financial Services sector which accounted for 30.11 percent. The Consumer Goods and Service sector ranked third, accounting for 13.59 percent followed by Telecom sector.

The Telecom sector led trading volume during this week accounting for 26.99 percent of the total trading volume followed by Banks and Financial Services sector which accounted for 24.08 percent, followed by the Industrials and Real Estate sectors.

The Industrials sector led trading number of transactions during this week, accounting for 30.28 percent of the total number of transactions, followed by Banks and Financial Services sector accounted for 29.11 percent. The Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 12.28 percent followed by Real Estate Sector.

!0 companies of the 42 listed companies ended this week higher, while 28 fell and 4 companies remain unchanged.

The Industries Qatar led trading value during this week accounting for 23.79 percent of the total trading value, followed by The Commercial Bank which accounted for 8.86 percent. The QNB ranked third accounting for 7.17 percent. The bourse added 12.93 points or 0.15 percent on yesterday’s trading to advance to 8,422.26 points from Wednesday’s 8,409.33.The volume of the shares traded was up 4,515,081 from 3,173,070 on Wednesday. The value of shares increased to QR155bn from Wednesday’s QR145bn. Among the top gainers of the day were Qatar National Bank which was up 0.68 percent to QR132.80, Qatar Insurance rose 0.71 percent to QR56.50, Doha Bank gained 1.15 percent to QR44.05 and Qatar Navigation up by 0.67 percent to QR60.00.

The Banking and Financial sector index up 0.28 points while Consumer Goods and Services sector index dropped 0.23 points. The industrial sector lost 0.33 points while insurance sector rose 0.39 points yesterday The Peninsula
