Doha: Around 150 children attending the Al Bawasil Camp got a rare opportunity yesterday to visit the Losail International Circuit (LIC).
The Al Bawasil Camp is one of the different projects and initiatives of the Qatar Diabetes Association.
The camp annually hosts children with diabetes from Qatar and all over the world. Initially it started with the MENA region and now has become an international event.
The aim of this camp is through different workshops, to help children with diabetes to teach them how to face the illness and provide them all the tools to give them confidence to reach their full potential.
Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah, Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) President and LIC General Manager, welcomed all the children and teachers.
Al Attiyah expressed his happiness on their visit at Losail. “I take personal interest in this kind of gathering activities where kids are involved. It is our responsibility to give them the right message about motorsport in all aspects. Any program that involves children has a great interest to QMMF. We have been dealing with different meetings in the past because we feel that children must be told about motorsport always in a safe side.’ Al Attiyah said during the briefing to the children.
Nasser said that it is interesting to take question’s from these young kids and give them the best answers possible, and he explained to all the children all the different activities carried out by QMMF during the whole season while watching a DVD in the Media Centre.
After their visit to the Media Centre, all the children went to have lunch at the restaurant with a special menu for them
Noura Hadeed Al Ibrahim, Camp Manager, thanked Al Attiyah and QMMF for giving this opportunity to all the children to experience a great day.
“It is our second visit at Losail International Circuit, but this time it has been completely different and we enjoyed more than last time. On behalf of Al Bawasil camp I want to express our happiness for the warm welcome and hospitality of QMMF to involve the diabetic children in the motorsport”.
The visiting group also made a tour to the pit boxes where some cars were on display.
