DOHA: The global economy is going from “bad to worse”, and the signs of recovery in some countries are ephemeral. The solution lies in addressing the 11-year deadlock of Doha Round negotiations held here under World Trade Organization (WTO) over a decade ago (in 2001), Remy Rowhani, Director General of Qatar Chamber told reporters here yesterday.
“Unfortunately my view on global economic recovery is not positive. I see that global economy is moving from bad to worse. With the (present) state of the world, you may see signs of growth here and there, but these are temporary to my personal view,” said Rowhani. He believes that the key to success for global prosperity lies in making sure that the Doha-Round of trade talks must be brought in immediately for successful conclusion.
In less than two months Qatar will host the global community of over 12,000 chambers, a large number of business leaders at the upcoming ICC World Chambers Federation 8th World Chambers Congress and Exhibition to be held here at Qatar National Convention Centre from April 22 to 25.
