Ankara: Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham said on Saturday the relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia cannot move forward until Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is "dealt with", without being more specific.
Speaking in Ankara a day after meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Graham also said Congress will reintroduce sanctions against those involved in the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Graham said on Saturday he hoped President Donald Trump would slow the US withdrawal from Syria until Islamic State is destroyed.
Graham said he believed US Chief of Staff Joseph Dunford was working on a plan with Turkey to move Kurdish YPG elements away from Turkey.
Erdogan met the Republican US Senator in the capital Ankara on Friday.
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin and presidential communications director Fahrettin Altun were present at the closed-door meeting held at the Presidential Complex.
In the meeting, recent developments in Syria and bilateral relations were discussed, according to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Cavusoglu also met with the U.S. senator at the foreign ministry earlier in the day.
