Qtargets Art Gallery kicked off ‘Message for Peace’ Exhibition, which was dedicated to Qatar National Day, on December 16 at Gate Mall.
Qtargets Art Exhibition is a platform for talented people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in a symbolic project together. The project aims to creatively express individual messages of peace addressed to the future generations through symbolic sport targets integrated into the artwork.
In Qtargets ‘Target’ recognised as a symbol to the achievement of a goal. The use of a shooting target on which beautiful hand written messages of peace are written, and then artworks are painted seeks to dispel the stereotype that a target is a way of expressing aggression. In this project, the target is transformed to focus on peace and beauty through the work of art.
The project invited all participants to answer the question “What is your positive message of peace?”. All messages are written in their native language which only adds to the personalisation of the message.
Thousands of messengers from more than 65 countries, more than 100 artworks of 60 local and international artists unite the art, sport and peaceful philosophy in the Exhibition.
The Qtargets have been supported by Salam Inc. The Gate Mall, Gulf English School, Qatar University, North Atlantic College (Qatar), International Athletes and Fans from UCI Road World Championships (Doha Qatar), International athletes from 49th World Military Shooting Championships, Doha SkyDive Qatar Team, Soul Riders and Soul Jeepers Qatar Team, Qatar National Football team, and many guests to Katara Cultural Village and Salam - Chernovol Art Gallery the State of Qatar.
The exhibition was attended by Abdul Salam AbuIssa, CEO of Salam International and The Gate Mall team; Ali Al Kuwari, President of Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation; Ahmad Al Kuwari, official from Qatar Military; Ali Al Marri, Founder of DC Center; Ambassadors and other dignitaries were present at the opening of the exhibition.
During her opening speech, Nadia Chernovil, Founder of Qtargets Art Gallery said: “It is an incredibly strong message that we would like to communicate to the world from the Qatar community.”
“We stand up to the challenges that faced the art on the global scale. We believe that Qtargets Art Project represents a part of the history of Qatar, sport and the history of art overall,” she added.
Nadia further stated, “We do hope that together with Qatar we will be able to find new talented people in a different backgrounds as artists musicians poets and so on. Qtargets a world-wide project, and that all other projects in arts, fashion, sculpture and others spread across the world but originate from Qatar.”
Two masterpieces which were exhibited at QND 2018 Exhibition included “Spirit of the Qatari Emirs” and “Blooming Qatar” signed by more than 400 visitors of the Gate Mall.
While giving his artwork description of “Spirit of the Qatari Emirs”, Andrii Chernovil said: “Spirit of the Qatari Emirs” at exhibition is from the past to the present, from the present to the future, through the sands of time, clearing the sky above the country with powerful and mighty wings, the spirit of the Qatari Emirs moves swiftly.”
“Trusting, and submitting to the mercy of the heavens, they look to the future with the watchful eye of a falcon. And as a bird supports itself with wings, so they support their people and their country in the present, giving honour and tribute to their ancestors who started their way in the past, at the source of the prosperity of the country of Qatar,” he added.
“Qatar is a country where trees and green grass are hardly ever seen. However, from these hot sands, we witness special and beautiful flowers breaking through towards the sun. In the same way Qatar breeds strong and purposeful leaders who develop, the prosperity of this country with a dignified humility,” describing his “Blooming Qatar” artwork he said.
He further added, “The rulers wisdom is spread throughout society like the Earth meridians that are moving in all directions across the picture. The country Qatar evolves relying on powerful cultural and spiritual principles. It moves with determination from intention to action, from action to the goal achievement. The goal in mind of peace and prosperity for all humanity.”
