From kids to elderly people, top businessmen to professionals and diplomats; people representing all walks of life from expatriate communities participated yesterday in Friendship Parade activity at Aspire Park to express their love and solidarity with Qatar on National Day.
In an atmosphere that highlights the diversity of cultures, communities presented their culture and folklore through private stalls in Aspire Park. Also they showed a variety of paintings, reflecting their arts and culture.
The parade aimed to show the unity to the beloved country — the State of Qatar, and also to highlight their positive contributions to the development and progress of Qatar, as well as to highlight the strong relations between Qatar and the brotherly and friendly countries and the values of coexistence, tolerance and diversity in the State of Qatar.
Hundreds of people representing 40 countries participated in the event. The participants raised Qatar’s flag and the flags of their respective countries, chanting a words of support for Qatar and its people, who exchanging with them respect and appreciation.
Communities from Asia, Africa, Europe and others participated in the activity. The activity is part of many activities which is being held to celebrate the Qatar National Day and in order to show the unity to the beloved country the State of Qatar.
The event is organised by the Organizing Committee of Qatar National Day 2018 Celebrations and the Foreign Ministry’s Protocol Department, diplomatic missions and accredited offices.“We came here today to celebrate the National Day with Qataris and to participate in this cherished occasion,” said Abdel Hameed from Turkish community.
Another participant from Pakistani community commented: “Today we are celebrating Qatar National Day, we are very proud and happy to be residents in Qatar. We are here to announce our support to Qatar, and will never leave them alone, we are standing together with them. We are all Qataris, we are all Tamim.”
Another one said, “We are happy to be part of this parade to stand with our brothers and great leadership.”
From small children to elderly people and all sections of the Pakistani community keened to attend the parade. “We were asked to bring only 100 people, but the number doubled because all of them wanted to participate in the event,” said a Pakistani expatriate.
“We congratulate Qataris and their government on this occasion, Qatar National Day. We are from Mali very proud to be resident in Qatar and hope all goodness to Qatar,” Sidi El Moctar Abderhmane Kounta from Mali community said.
The event was held for the second consecutive year in response to the desire of expatriate communities to show their love, appreciation, loyalty to the State of Qatar and its leadership, as well as the efforts to highlight their positive contributions.
It also celebrates the 130 years of construction and prosperity which all Qataris and residents contributed to.
