DOHA: Qatar University College of Business and Economics (QU-CBE) has seen an increase in number of students as a result of introducing Arabic as well as the medium of instruction, says a senior official.
Currently, QU-CBE has a total of 4,110 students and 899 of them have been admitted in 2016. Of the students, 75 percent are Qataris, said Dr Khalid Shams M A Al Abdulqader, Dean of QU-CBE.
“QU-CBE offers internationally accredited courses both in Arabic and English and we have seen that introduction of Arabic as a medium of instruction has encouraged admissions. QU-CBE undertakes the mission to be a provider of quality education and knowledge in the fields of business through quality teaching, research and community service. The programmes and training offered by the College are designed to meet the changes in knowledge and business environment,” said Dr Al Abdulqader yesterday speaking at a press conference held to highlight the College’s achievements during last year and its plans for the academic year 2016-2017.
“According to a new strategy, the College has introduced innovative curricula and continues to improve. The college seeks to offer undergraduate and graduates business programmes that connect theory to practice, promote critical thinking, and engage students in active and collaborative learning,” he added.
QU-CBE has departments of Accounting and Information systems, Finance and Economics, Management and Marketing and offers undergraduate, post graduate and executive programmes.
Among them Management and Marketing departments have the highest number of students — 829 and 658.
