Doha, Qatar: The government and private sectors appointed 880 citizens through the National Employment Platform ‘Kawader’ during the second quarter (Q2) of 2023.
The government sector appointed 667 citizens, while the private sector managed 213 appointments, according to a report issued by the Labour Ministry in coordination with Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.
The report showed a large presence of Qatari females in both sectors, showing the pivotal role of women in supporting the local economy, as the percentage of total females employed was 64%.
The report lists the companies that hire the highest number of job seekers. the specialisations which are in demand in the labour market and other important statistics.
Out of the 667 people appointed in the government sector, 31% were males and 69% females. As for the private sector, females were 49%, compared to 51% of males.
The report said that the top three employers in the government sector during the second quarter are the Primary Health Care Corporation, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
The government agencies that provided the most job opportunities through the National Employment Platform ‘Kawader’ were Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Primary Health Care and Hamad Medical Corporation. The most demanded specialisations in the government sector were teaching, computer engineering, and civil engineering.
The three top employers in the private sector were Qatar National Bank, Ahli Bank and Ooredoo. The highest number of jobs were offered by Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), Doha Bank and Ahli Bank. The private sector witnessed a great demand for specialisations in business administration, law, financial management and accounting.
Commenting on the report, a private-sector recruitment expert at the Ministry of Labor Mohammed Al Khulaifi said: “Employment data in the private sector for the second quarter of this year showed a remarkable demand for business administration, law, in addition to the financial and banking specializations.”
He said that the Ministry of Labour strives to provide quality job opportunities for all citizens in the private sector in order to achieve the societal and economic prosperity that Qatar seeks.
For her part, Director of the Nomination and Replacement Department at the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau Dhabia Al Buainain said, “The Bureau implemented several initiatives and improvements during the second quarter of the year, the most prominent of which was the “Tamheen” programme.”
She said that 150 vacancies have been added in the teaching profession on the national platform Kawader in addition to launching the “Academic Competencies” initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) to attract nationals holding higher degrees to work as teachers in CCQ. “There is also a skill programme through which we seek to nationalise technical jobs according to the needs of the government sector,” said Al Buainain.
She said that in an effort to keep pace with the rapid pace of technological development, a new interface for the Kawader platform has been launched that supports artificial intelligence technology and includes several updates that contribute to improving the user experience.
The efforts to provide job opportunities for citizens in Qatar are among the main goals of the human development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The vision ensures the availability of investments for the public and private sectors and the creation of training and employment opportunities for all citizens in Qatar to achieve their aspirations, in addition to providing programmes that keep pace with the labour market keeping pace with the current situation and future changes.
