Turkish food delights Doha diners with rich and savoury dishes

Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel have partnered with Turkish Airlines to offer Doha’s diners an exciting gastronomic experience, a Turkish Food Festival with live cooking stations and entertainment. 

Travelling from one of the world’s top culinary destinations, the seven day festival brings two Turkish chefs from Istanbul to host the lively celebration, that started on April 16 and will continue till 22.  

The event, that takes place at Al Hubara Restaurant, bringing mouth-watering flavours to the community. 

Rightly famed for its cuisine, Turkey takes its influence from all over the world and dates to the Ottomans, with rich and savoury dishes, complementing chef’s desire to master traditional dishes with finesse and excellence. 

Diners can expect a lavish spread of tasty dishes and will have the chance to win daily prizes from Turkish Airlines, including flights to Europe. 

 

Hichem Ben Amor, Executive Assistant Manager-Food and Beverage, Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel, said: “We are delighted to bring Doha’s diners a flavour of Turkey’s cultural legacy. Food and music are a great way to gain an insight to what makes it such a renowned culinary destination. It promises to be a feast for all the senses.”

The Turkish Food Festival, is the fourth culinary festival Al Hubara Restaurant, has brought to Doha foodies since January, underscoring the hotel’s commitment to offering residents and guest’s exceptional experiences. 

Speaking of their partnership Mehmed Zingal, General Manager of Turkish Airlines commented: “We are honoured to take guests on a journey of Turkey’s traditions. From our delicious dishes that are enjoyed throughout the country, to the music composed to stir the emotions. It is a pleasure to introduce our cultural heritage to residents of Qatar and guests of the hotel.” 

Talking to The Peninsula, an official from Al Hubara Restaurant said: “ Every day we are serving with different menus; as first day we served cold appetizers which include, Eggplant salad, Spinach borani and Circassian chicken. Soups include, Ezo Gelin Soup - A savoury soup with red lentil, bulgur and mixed spices, yayla corbas?—yogurt soup creamed rice soup. Hot meals included stuffed pepper with minced meat, sultan’s favourite, steamed fish with fresh vegetables and bulgur pilaf. The live cooking show included cooking of Lamb Shawarma, Ottoman style grilled meatball, chicken chops and Turkish pizza. Dessert included, baked pumpkin with tahini sauce and walnut.”

“We change menu everyday which includes Turkish ice cream station which includes ( vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) flavours, Turkish coffee Station and Turkish    shawarma station. The Chef, Cevdet Oral, from Istanbul previously worked in 5-star  hotels in New York, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Turkey,” he added. 

In addition to the above, Sheraton is running a lucky draw on ground and on SM platforms. Guests can win daily return tickets to anywhere in Europe. The visitors can enjoy the live band performance by ‘Ethnic Band from Turkey’.

 

The official told The Peninsula: “The competition includes the following steps, first step is to dine in at the food festival, second is to give details in the rolling drum, lunch or dinner, third step is to post your favourite picture of the festival on social media and tag  (#merhabasheraton, #sheratongranddoha) with the picture. These steps will lead to the chance to win daily return tickets to anywhere Europe. Daily lucky winners will be announced at 9:30pm.”

The Turkish Food Festival is open for lunch daily from 12 noon to 3pm and will be charged QR195. For dinner from 7pm to 11pm for QR235.  Friday and Saturday brunch on April 21 & 22 will be available from 12noon to 3pm for QR315 and QR 240, respectively.
