Doha: Qatar Chamber (QC) hosted yesterday, a trade delegation from the Republic of Portugal, led by Nuno Anahory, Board Member of the Arab Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.
The delegation included Hayder Al Khodairi, Secretary General of the Arab Portuguese Chamber and several representatives from Portuguese companies across various fields.
The delegation was received by Qatar Chamber board member, Eng. Ali bin Abdul Latif Al Mesnad.
In his remarks, Eng. Ali Al Mesnad emphasised that relations between Qatar and Portugal witnessed significant development, affirming that both sides are keen on enhancing cooperation across various fields.
He noted that Qatar Chamber is committed to supporting efforts to strengthen collaboration between the business communities of both countries.
He highlighted the diverse opportunities available for establishing Qatari Portuguese partnerships and forging strategic projects that serve common interests, thereby increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
He stressed that many promising investment opportunities exist, benefiting businesses in both nations.
Al Mesnad invited Portuguese businessmen to invest in Qatar, noting that it is a leading investment destination regionally and internationally.
He encouraged them to take advantage of Qatar’s attractive investment incentives, advanced infrastructure, and flexible economic policies that promote foreign investment.
These include 100% foreign ownership in most sectors, tax exemptions, easy procedures, and Qatar’s strategic location.
For his part, Nuno Anahory stated that the visiting delegation includes several Portuguese companies operating across various sectors, including tourism, mining, hospitality, real estate, and legal services.
He noted that the delegation aims to explore Qatar’s investment environment and engage with Qatari companies to strengthen cooperation.
He emphasised Portugal’s readiness to support Qatari investors interested in entering the Portuguese market by providing essential economic data and information necessary for establishing businesses.
In turn, Hayder Al Khodairi highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the Arab-Portuguese Chamber and Qatar Chamber.
He noted their intention to increase the frequency of joint meetings in the coming period to further strengthen trade relations between the two countries.
