Sharm El Sheikh: Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani inaugurated the environmental sustainability programme at Qatar's pavilion at UN climate summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, yesterday.
The programme was developed by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change under the slogan “Sustainable Environment”.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a large number of experts and delegates to the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27).
Speaking at a panel discussion on the occasion, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change said the inauguration of the environmental sustainability programme is a milestone in Qatar’s journey towards achieving environmental sustainability, and contributes to supporting Qatar’s National Environment and Climate Change Strategy and the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Minister met with Minister of Environment of Jordan H E Dr. Muawieh Khalid Radaideh at Qatar’s pavilion.
The Jordan delegation was keen to tour the Qatari pavilion and see the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums’ maquettes.
The Jordanian delegation praised the distinctive architecture of the stadiums and the keenness of Qatar to build them according to international environmental standards and specifications. The environmental sustainability programme represents an initiative launched by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to encourage the inclusion of various efforts and initiatives related to aspects of environmental sustainability in Qatar within a digital platform specifically prepared for that purpose.
