DOHA: The first Communicable Disease Center (CDC) in the region started operations at the Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City today.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and Minister of Public Health and Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari today officially opened the centre.
Located in the Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City, the 9,000 sqm tertiary center includes many hi-tech features and facilities.
It includes 65 single, inpatient rooms. Bio safety level 3 laboratory, sustainable negative pressure facility, outpatient clinic, travel clinic, automated pharmacy and social services.
Communicable Disease Center collaborates with the Ministry of Public Health and aims to reduce the impact of communicable diseases on the population, said Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation, during a media tour of the facility.
