Doha, Qatar: The Orphans Care Center (Dreama), as part of its Ramadan activities, celebrated Garangao night which aims to revive Qatari heritage and introduce children to authentic Ramadan traditions and customs. It also seeks to engage Dreama’s children in the celebration to strengthen social bonds within the community and to familiarise younger generations with traditions.
This celebration comes as part of Dreama’s National Identity Program, which aims to enhance children’s knowledge of their national identity and instil authentic Qatari customs and traditions in their hearts.
Through the various activities provided during the event — including cultural and traditional stations and the wearing of traditional clothing — the programme also connected children to their history and identity while fostering a sense of belonging to their community and its values.
H E Sheikha Najla bint Ahmed Al Thani, Executive Director of Dreama, expressed her great happiness at organising this special Garangao celebration. She emphasised the importance of such events in strengthening social connections among community members and instilling heritage values in the younger generations. She further stressed that these events play a key role in preserving customs and traditions that tie individuals to their deep-rooted past and contribute to building a strong cultural identity for future generations.
Special thanks were extended to all participants and supporting entities, including Doha Insurance Group, Ahli Bank, Qatar National Bank, and Ooredoo, reaffirming the importance of continuing such events that promote and preserve cultural heritage. They also expressed pride in the community’s collective participation, reflecting their deep commitment to safeguarding and enriching Qatar’s cultural heritage.
