Doha hands over key of OIC Youth Capital to Dhaka

The Ministry of Culture and Sports celebrated yesterday the conclusion of The ‘Doha - OIC Youth Capital 2019’’ activities and handed the key of ‘OIC Youth Capital 2020’ to Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh.

The closing ceremony was organised at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, and was attended by Minister of Culture and Sports, H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali; President of Planning and Statistics Authority H E Saleh bin Mohammad Al Nabit; Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Bangladesh, H E Zahid Rasool; Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) President, Taha Ayhan and many senior officials and ambassadors.

During the closing ceremony,  H E Salah bin Ghanem, handed the key of OIC Youth Capital 2020 to the representative of Dhaka.

Hundreds of young people from different countries of the Islamic world participated in the activities of ‘Doha - OIC Youth Capital 2019’. The main activities among them were the Doha Youth Innovation Award,  Doha Oasis for Innovation and the ‘Planting Trees’ event.

These  activities were hosted last year under the theme “Youth is the Power of the Nation”.
Thirty young people from the Islamic world participated in the closing ceremony, and H E the Minister honoured the distinguished youth and winners of the competitions organised by the Ministry.

Taha Ayhan,  President of the Islamic Youth Cooperation Forum thanked the efforts of Qatar for its distinguished hosting of the events.

“Investing in youth is the real investment, and this is what we felt during the activities of Doha - OIC Youth Capital 2019,” he said.

Ayhan also announced the Republic of Bangladesh as the host of OIC Youth Capital 2020.

H E Zahid Rasool said that “The Republic of Bangladesh and the State of Qatar enjoy excellent bilateral relations, with about 400,000 people from Bangladesh working in Qatar, contributing to the development of the two countries, in addition to cooperation in the fields of health, education, culture and sports in recent years.

Bangladesh maintains close relations with all Islamic countries and looks forward to discussing common issues in the Islamic world, he added.

Regarding the selection of Bangladesh as a host of OIC Youth Capital 2020, he pointed out that “ We are happy to choose Dhaka as OIC Youth Capital 2020, and I invite you all to visit Dhaka.

“We are planning to organise 10 events on the occasion of Dhaka hosting OIC Youth Capital 2020, which includes the opening and closing ceremony, film festival, art exhibition, recitation and discussion of the Qur’an, volunteer and scout camp, football tournament and youth summit,” he added.
