Doha: Oryx Engineering Solutions Group’s Founder and Managing Director, Abdulla Mannai, has been selected as 2012’s Outstanding Business Leader of the Year by ITP’s Oil & Gas Middle East magazine.
The award, which celebrates exemplary leadership in the region’s upstream industry, was presented at a celebration attended by more than 200 key international and regional decision-makers gathered at the Westin Hotel Ballroom in Dubai.
In presenting the award, Oil & Gas Middle East recognises Mannai’s immense and creative contribution to the development in the region and in specific Qatar’s oil and gas sector.
Over the last eight years, Mannai’s tireless efforts as an entrepreneur have been an example to others in the region.
His visionary programme of work has resulted in the completion of the Oryx Engineering Solutions Centre (OESC), which today serves the needs of a wide variety of customers in the region’s oil, gas, power, utilities and marine industries. Its success has made it one of the cornerstones of Qatar’s economic development.
Speaking at the ceremony Mannai said he was honoured to receive the award and acknowledged the important part played by his team at the OESC. “They bring the best of creativity and the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship to their work”, he said.
Mannai also thanked Oryx Engineering Solutions’ joint-venture partners, ABB, AESSEAL and Transcar, for their part in the OESC’s success.
In doing so he said: “Though I have received this award personally, I want to thank everyone for their ongoing efforts and collaboration and assure you that we continue to enhance, develop and build on our business for the future.”
