Qatar reports 189 Covid-19 cases on Oct 16

Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 189 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 204 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 126,006. 

Out of the 189 new cases, 175 are community cases and 14 from travelers returning from abroad.

All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 128,992 and there are 2,764 active cases under treatment. So far, 222 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar.

Ministry conducted 6,082 tests in the last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 861,236 tests. There 43 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total patients in the hospital 395. Five patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 54.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing.

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate.

- Wearing a face mask.

- Washing hands regularly
