Doha: Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, Co-Chair of the National Pandemic Preparedness Committee and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation has said that cases of infection of COVID-19 increased in the country because of a number of reasons. The most important is that the spread of the coronavirus has reached its peak in the region, including the State of Qatar.
“The second reason is screening and tracing the chain of the infection which has been intensified by the Ministry of Public Health,” said Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal while talking to a Qatar TV program.
He said that in case of detecting any case of infection, the contacts of infected persons are being screened whether in accommodation or workplaces which has resulted in emergence of new cases.
He said that most of new cases are from the contacts of the new case of infection. For example 392 cases which were detected today (Thursday), the Ministry of Public Health has taken the information from each person about their accommodations and workplaces to screen the people came in the contact of the infected people.
“Those in the contacts of the infected people if show symptoms of coronavirus, will be isolated and remaining will be kept in quarantine for two weeks,” said Dr. Al Khal
He said that it is expected the number of new cases of infected people may increase in coming days.
