The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) has begun its global search for outstanding young learners from diverse backgrounds and disciplines for the 2017-18 Learners’ Voice Programme.
WISE is accepting nominations and applications for the new cohort that will join the global Learners’ Voice community until May 2.
The WISE Learners’ Voice Program brings the voice of young people to the challenge of rethinking education, and equips them to take on leading roles in their fields and in the world of education. In addition to acquiring leadership and communication skills, the Learners are tasked with developing innovative, educational interventions to a pressing social issue identified by WISE.
This year the participants will be engaged in theoretical and practical components relating to the Global Forced Migration and Displacement Crisis.
“WISE invites highly motivated learners who can strongly demonstrate their engagement in the field of education to apply for the WISE Learners’ Voice Program by submitting an application form endorsed by two professional referees,” says the WISE calling for applications online. “WISE invites representatives of institutions, organizations, programs and networks around the world to nominate engaged learners with diverse, outstanding academic and /or personal experiences to participate in the WISE Learners’ Voice Program,” it added.
The Learners participate in the global biennial summit and in two intensive residential sessions delivered by expert faculty. These are supplemented by practical workshops and various online and on-site activities. In a key component of the Program, the learners form teams to conceive and design grass-roots projects that address critical education challenges.
Selected projects, developed throughout the year, will be presented at the WISE Summit. The 2017 WISE Summit will convene between November 14 and 16, in Doha.
