QNA

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, announced the launch of the Tunisian Cultural Festival starting today until March 20, as part of a series of cultural festivals aimed at rapprochement between nations and peoples and building bridges of peace among the countries of the world, in the field of human culture.

The festival includes cinematic, cultural, heritage, exhibitions and arts performances. It will open with the premiere of the movie “Ghadwa,” followed by a panel discussion with the film’s hero, Tunisian actor Dhafer El Abidine.

The film succeeded in winning the International Federation of Film Critics Award (FIPRESCI) during its presentation at the 43rd session of the Cairo International Film Festival. It also received praise from journalists and critics during the presentation at the first session of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.

Tunisian Malouf music will also be part of the activities of the Tunisian Cultural Festival. It is one of the types of classical music spread in the Maghreb, which the North African countries inherited from Andalusia. Each country has put its own mark on this high heritage art. The festival also includes an exhibition of fine art, another for handicrafts, and a poetry evening held in the creativity square. The festival concludes with a show of Tunisian fashion and the Tunisian school choral. The closing ceremony of the festival will be held at the Opera House.

Katara had previously signed memoranda of understanding with the Tunisian City of Culture to exchange visits and cooperation and coordination in launching joint projects. A delegation from the Tunisian City of Culture participated in the opening of the events accompanying the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021.
