Doha: Under the patronage of Minister of Culture H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, the activities of the 34th Doha Theatre Festival will begin today at Katara Cultural Village. Organised by the Theatre Affairs Centre, the festival will run until March 27.
The festival includes performances by bands alongside university theatre performances (Our Youth On Stage), in addition to seminars.
The performances will start today with a play ‘Six Personalities Looking For An Author’ by the Community College of Qatar (CCQ).
Tomorrow, the second day of the festival, will witness the performance of the play ‘Beyond Centara’ by Qatar University.
On the third day, March 18, the play “The Elephant, King of Time” will be staged by the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, while on the fourth day, March 19, will witness the play “Valley of the Blind” by University of Doha for Science and Technology.
On March 20, the play “Justice Council” will be presented by Lusail University.
On March 21, the festival will host a special symposium presented by the Centre for Theatre Affairs under the title “Qatari Theatre. 50 Years.”
On March 22, the play “Al Ghaba” by Qatar Theatrical Troupe will be staged.
On March 23, the festival will witness a symposium “The Experience of the Artist Abdul Aziz Jassem theatrical”.
