The Ambassador of France to State of Qatar, Franck Gellet, has said that France is eager to see 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar a huge success and is ready to provide any help in this regard.
“I am tasked to make everything possible for 2022 FIFA World Cup to be a success, so everything that Qatar will ask from France in support we shall do it. We have a good experience in this regard including hosting mega sporting events,” the Ambassador said.
Speaking to The Peninsula recently, Franck Gellet said: “This event is essential for us because we are a football nation, and we are eager to see 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar a success.”
The Ambassador further said: “You must remember we helped a lot for the security preparation of 2006 Asian Games in Qatar. We are ready to renew that participation and in many other areas depending on Qatar’s need. We have a lot of experiences because we organize many sports championships on regular basis.”
“We like to work together with Qatar to benefit also from their experience and preparation for this big event for Olympic Games that France will host 2024,” he said.
“What is interesting in Qatar is the fact that they always choose the best technologies, the best competencies, Qataris are very open minded, always ready to go for the best and the newest,” the French Ambassador observed.
Ambassador Gellet said: “We are in touch with Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), and we are ready to do everything that is requested from us to make this big event a great success. We will be more than happy to see 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Qatar is really a friend to France.”
Replying a question about French companies working on construction projects, he said that French companies were directly involved in the construction of Qatar Rail. “There are 200 French companies working in Qatar in different sectors,” he added.
