Chinese Cultural Center is in final stages that will be set up within this year in Qatar, said H E Zhou Jian, Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to the State of Qatar.
“The new centre would help introducing more people to Chinese culture. I hope the centre is to be set up this year,” said the Ambassador, while talking to media persons on the sidelines of a ceremony held on Tuesday on the occasion of Chinese New Year. The ceremony was attended by around 300 people from the Chinese community in Qatar, in addition to many other guests. The event was held at the Intercontinental Hotel, and included many Chinese cultural and musical performances. It also included sports shows of the Chinese people, as they performed in groups in traditional Chinese attire.
Addressing the ceremony, the Ambassador said: “In 2019, the relation between China and Qatar harvests a lot of progress under the blueprint drawn by the leaders of two countries together. The political mutual trust between two countries has reached a new height. President Xi Jinping and Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met twice during the year to reach a broad consensus on deepening China-Qatar strategic partnership, building solid foundations and strong pillars for the relation between two countries in the new era, and guiding it into the fast lane.”
He further said: “The pragmatic cooperation between two countries reaps much new fruits. The 2nd meeting of the China-Qatar Joint Economic and Trade Committee was held successfully and the Chinese Enterprises Association in Qatar was founded. Qatar’s LNG has contributed to China’s green development.”
The Ambassador pointed out that Chinese in Qatar worked hard to chase their dreams in various sectors. “While realising their dreams, every one of them actively contributes to the Qatari economic and social development, acts as a bridge to promote cooperation between two countries, and also rewards the development of China.”
