Children enjoying different activities at Darb Al Saai. Many visitors expressed their happiness over the diversity of these activities which meet all people’s desires and also come as a prelude to the National Day.
The National Festivities at Darb Al Saai yesterday attracted thousands of visitors who enjoyed the various activities like Al Maseer Parade with the participation of horses, camels and Mawater.
They also enjoyed a lot such as Metro rail and ‘Al Maqtar’ activity which is similar to the old desert lifestyle. The festivities varied from heritage and cultural events to educating the new generation about the Qatari customs and traditions and cultivate the values of loyalty and unity among them.
Many visitors expressed their happiness over the diversity of these activities which meet all people desires and also come as a prelude to the National Day, in which every citizen recalls the Founder’s accomplishments.
The Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, H E Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi and President of Planning and Statistics Authority, H E Dr. Saleh bin Mohammad Salem Al Nabit, visited Darb Al Saai yesterday and took a tour of pavilions. The tour included various cultural and heritage activities.
“Darb Al Saai activities educate children about the history of Qatar and cultivates patriotism in them, as it is important for the new generation to know more about the history of their dear homeland,” said Rawdah, a Qatari citizen.
She also said that the most important aspect of the event was its activities for children. “Today there is much crowd especially at educational activities that raise children’s awareness on many subjects and they develop their cognitive abilities through drawing, painting and sports competition among others,” she added.
Khaled Abduallah, another Qatari citizen, said: “This is a precious occasion for every citizen, and today, even residents are sharing joy with us. Children carry flags and watch the old Qatari customs such as Al Shaar tents. Visitors get a chance to get knowledge about the lives of our ancestors. The visitors know more about folk games, wild plants, birds and Qatari environment and animals.”
Many government entities are participating in the event such as Ministry of Interior; Ministry of Defence; Ministry of Education and Higher Education; Qatar Foundation and Qatar University among others.
The participation of these entities aims to achieve the greatest benefit to the visitors of Darb Al Saai through different activities, in addition to know more about the duties carried out by these entities.
The celebrations of the National Day will continue until December 20. The National Day celebrations 2019, are being held under the slogan ‘Al Maali Kaydah’ that means the path of excellence is difficult, which is inspired by a poem by Qatar’s founder Sheikh Jassim describing his son Sheikh Ali bin Jassim (Joaan), “Ten years embraced glory and arts Obtained all excellence and manliness” a verse from a poem by the Founder.
The names of the sponsors of Darb Al Saai activities have been classified according to the professions of sailors on diving ships during the summer, because it was one of the most important professions at that time, pearl trade age which gathered people and united them at that time.
