New season of drag racing kicks off at QRC

DOHA: The launch of drag racing season was a night of fun for the car and bike lovers in the country but the greatest cheers were reserved for Abdulla Al Karaan, Mario Pavlavic and Mohammed Bourshaid, the winners in the first event of the new season. 

After intense battles, Al Karaan, Pavlavic and Bourshaid won races in four categories at Qatar Racing Club (QRC). 

Al Karaan topped the fields in two classes (stree bike and 8 cylinder) while Pavlavic was the fastest entry in the 6 cylinder class. 

Bourshaid - in a Lancer Evo - emerged as the winner in the 4 cylinder class. 

“We enjoyed a fantastic turn-out for the first round of our Qatar National Street Drag Championship (QNSDC) and offer our sincere thanks to the 61 championship competitors and our of fans and the HOG Group of Qatar for their unwavering support,” Fahad Mohammed Behzad, CEO of QRC, said. 

The Round 1 of QNSDC was held on the legendary drag strip with live coverage provided by Al Rayyan.

“If the fans missed out on the action in the first round, be sure to join us on the 7th, 8th, 9th of November,” Behzad added. 

The Peninsula
