Things to do this weekend in Qatar (Sept 15-17,2022)

Doha: The country is buzzing with vast variety of events this weekend, suitable for adult and children alike. The spotlights are on for the exciting musicals that will be on show from today as new art exhibitions will be unveiled from tomorrow, a certain delight for enthusiasts in Qatar. Competitions on design and photography are also on-going for those who wish to participate as well as several events are organized ahead of the World Clean Up Day 2022 (September 17, 2022).

Ehteraz is required upon entry for almost all events and mask are a must at some events. 

The Wizard of Oz
September 15-17, 2022, with various timings for each day
Lusail Multi Purpose Hall

Families are welcome to the spectacular circus musical show "Wizard of Oz", which is based on a novel by L.Frank Baum. The circus musical show will deliver stunning performances and blend circus stunts, brilliant vocal parts, bespoke animation and 3D graphics, as well as vivid costumes. 
Ticket prices start at QR145 and available on QTickets, Tixbox, and Virgin Megastore.

Peter and the Wolf

Hamilton International School Theatre, Mesaimeer

Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra will present the musical composition, "Peter and the Wolf" by Russian composer, Sergei Prokofiev.  The story of "Peter and Wolf" is told by a narrator, with the orchestra musically illustrating the events that unfold for the audience. Children from six year old and above as well as adults can attend the show. 
Tickets starting from QR 100 for all types of seats is available at QTickets. Masks must be worn and a Green status on Etheraz have to be presented

Gopi Sundar Live Ensemble

Al Arabi Sports Club 

Music lovers in Doha can witness this live ensemble of Indian musicians from the state of Kerala - Gopi Sundar, Amritha Suresh, Mohammed Jasim and Swetha, along with their band members.
Ticket purchase is required for attendees above 4 years old. Those who wish to attend may avail one at QTickets, with prices starting from QAR50.

Al Arabi Sports Club

 Indian singer K S Chitra will perform in Doha this Friday as part of the programme Indra Neelima to be held in the Al Arab Sports Indoor Hall. The musical evening will also see music director and singer Sarath, singers K K Nishad and Nithya Maman as part of a group of 20 artists from the southern Indian state of Kerala. 
Tickets for the event are priced from QR100 to QR300 and are available on Q Tickets

Majaz: Contemporary Art Qatar 
September 16, 2022 until February 25, 2023

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art

Majaz: Contemporary Art exhibition will highlight the success of Fire Station's Artist in Residence (AIR) programme. It will feature artworks, including paintings, drawings, prints, scupltures, new media and installations, by 36 artists who participated in the programme in the years 2015-2021.

Abeer Al-Tamimi: Beyond the Rules

This solo exhibition by multi-disciplinary artist, Abeer Al-Tamimi, explores the artist's interest in human interaction and behaviour through a series of paintings in oil on canvas and video installations. 
This exhibit does not require any prior reservation and is free-of-charge.

Abstraction: Subverting Reality

Abstraction: Subverting Reality is a group exhibition featuring unique abstract works by 11 artists. The exhibition is open for children and adults alike. 
The exhibit does not require any prior reservation and is free-of-charge.

Weave for Dadu
Until September 20, 2022 at 2PM to 8PM
Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center (Fanar)

This event is open for families and children who wish to learn weaving skills. Through the workshop, participants will acquire skills required to make a variety of objects such as table mats, coasters, ornaments and more. 
This event will be held in both English and Arabic. Attendance to the event is free-of-charge and does not require any reservations.

World Cleanup Day 2022

Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Park (Umm Salal Ali)

The Ministry of Municipality, represented by Umm Salal Municipality has announced an invite to participate in events for the World Clean Up Day 2022. These include distributing gifts, awareness segments and competitions. 
The event is an open invitation for all citizens and residents in Qatar ahead of the World Clean Up Day which is celebrated annually on September 17.

Design a Welcome Postcard
The Learning and Outreach section at 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum is organizing an art contest for preparatory students. The competition entails designing a welcome postcard (Welcome to Qatar World Cup). This was announced on the museum's official Instagram account.

Sheikh Saoud Al Thani Project and Single Image Awards
Qatar Museums announced the third edition of the Sheikh Saoud Al Thani Project and Single Image Awards. This forms part of its annual photography festival which celebrates photographers from the Western Asia and the North Africa (WANA) region.
